Perma pre?
Not been playing long and I've seen several posts about perma pre. at the risk of sounding stupid, does this literally mean staying in pre-Ascalon and if so how? By the time I reach 8-9 level I can't find anymore quests but I'd like to try perma-pre.
Thanks in advance |

In case it still matters: ***SPOILER ALERT***
A perma-pre character is just what it sounds like: A character that stays in pre-searing Ascalon. Although a prema-pre doesn't always go for Legendary Defender of Ascalon (getting to level 20), many perma-pre characters are there just for that purpose. For more information about how to get to level 20 in pre-searing check out this site: www.presearing.com Please note that getting to LDoA has less to do with quests and more to do with dying over and over and over again. |

Yep, that's exactly what it means. There is a whole community of folks that like the pre-searing environment and choose to keep a character there. A lot of them are going for the legendary defender of Ascalon title (reach lvl 20 in pre) and some just like to hang out there.

And some collect the daily gifts from Nick and use another toon/account/friend to move them to post. Or all of the above.

The point of the Perma-Pre is usually to go for LDoA. I have a perma-pre and sometimes I roll a new one every so often to try some things out with different classes. While you don't have to go for LDoA (I don't plan to) there are other things to do. Nostalgia, general nice scenery and an escape from the main game are just small things that Pre can still offer. Mostly though, people will farm the item of the day for Nicholas Gifts and Dye Farm, because apparently Dye has a (seemingly) higher drop rate in Pre areas. I got my first black dye in the Catacombs, and out of the 10 or so times I've ever farmed outside of the Barradin Estate one single run yielded me a White and Black dye in a row, other runs sometimes yielded me red and or silver dyes.
Bandits apparently love to steal dyes from the Ascalon shops and hide out in the fields. |
